New clue on Pat’s death

New clue on Pat’s death

14th august 1997

MURDER victim Pat Grainger could have been alive hours before her body was found in a Sheffield beauty spot, polie today revealed.

A new witness has said the Parson Cross mum was seen alive near her home the night before her body was found.

Pat’s family had not seen her for nearly a week before children playing near Colley Drive came across her body on Sunday.

Until the new witness came forward police had thought she may have been murdered days before.

The 25-year-old with a mental age of ten had been sexually attacked, strangled and stabbed.

More than 200 people have responded to police please for information on the killing.

Many of the callers claimed to have seen Pat alive after August 4 – the last time her family saw her alive.

Police now have a confirmed sighting of Pat at 8:45pm on Saturday in the Buchanan Road area – near the home she shared with her stepdad Roy Wright, mum Harmina and son Danny, five. Today they asked for news of where Pat had slept during the six days she was missing.

Anyone with information should contact South Yorkshire police on 101 or crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
