Little Danny’s tragic first day at school

IT SHOULD be on of the proudest days of any mother’s life.

But today little Danny Grainger started his first term at Meynell School without his tragic mum, Pat. to see him off.

Danny starts school little more than three weeks after his murdered mum’s body was discovered in “The brook”, an area of open land alongside the Parson Cross estate where they lived.

The youngster is now being cared for by grandparents Mina and Roy, who have broken the news of his mum’s death as gently as possible.

While Danny appears to play happily with friends at his Buchanan Road home, his grandparents know his mental scars are far from healed.

Shouts

“We have told him his mum has gone to heaven, what else can you tell a five year old?” said Roy.

“He still shouts out in his sleep and wakes up asking for Pat.

“This is a terrible time for us. The police inquiry seems to be dragging on and nothing much seems to be happening.” he said.
